My admiration for Kathryn Mockler is huge—as a writer, editor, community-builder, activist, teacher, human being—the privilege to know & trust her as a colleague and friend. An intimate. Such care. She’s one of those very few people in a life who has indelibly informed and changed me, so that I cannot imagine a life without her. Add lifesaver to the list. No one makes me laugh out loud like The Mockler.
This Tuesday, we bask in our friendship, reading our work to each other & you. Join us.

At your local independent & request at your library home branch.

Jun 3 & 4 2024. A terrace reading among friends in Montreal celebrating she (a 65th birthday gift to myself). A living room reading in Kingston hosted by Sadiqa de Meijer where I found my fearless voice in the work (and saw the season’s first firefly near the train tracks). Priceless, all of it. Many thanks. Such good fortune.

Kirby: “How many of you have been called ‘faggot’ on the streets of London?”
More than half the room raise their hands.
Kirby: “Thanks for coming out tonight.”
Nothing is more essential then spaces free from violence to gather, love, play, celebrate.
And, there was nothing more celebratory than this past Friday night at The Variety Café, London ON (home of the famous disco washroom) where brave queer artists meet, create occasions, “make things pretty.”
Thanks to Late Bloomers (Kyle, Donovan, Andrés, & Co) for welcoming Stevie Manning & I into the fold, an extraordinary night of vibrant gaiety including a rare appearance of the Northern Lights on the patio!
“It’s all about the lighting,” Kirby smiles.
